About Us
Steady Hands in Uncertain Times
Krathong Law was founded on the belief that family legal matters deserve patience, discretion, and a practitioner who genuinely listens.

How Krathong Law Came to Be
Krathong Law was established in Chonburi in 2011 by a small team of Thai and internationally trained advocates who had each spent years working within larger firms — and who shared a growing conviction that family law work was too important to be handled at scale or by rote.
The name comes from the Loi Krathong tradition: the act of placing something carefully on the water and releasing it — an image that felt right for the kind of work we do. Helping families set difficult situations in motion, thoughtfully, without unnecessary force.
We are a compact practice by design. Matters before us are led by a single senior advocate supported by a small, dedicated team. We do not overbook. We do not rush.
Our Mission
To provide considered, honest legal counsel for families navigating custody and co-parenting questions — in Thailand and where those questions cross borders.
Our Values
- Child First. Every recommendation we make is measured against the child's interests first.
- Listen Before Advise. We ask questions before we offer opinions.
- Absolute Discretion. We treat what families share with us as private.
- Plain Language. Legal explanations should be clear, not performative.

Expertise & Practice
Family Law in Thailand — Our Area of Focus
Family law in Thailand is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, with custody and parental authority matters handled by the Juvenile and Family Courts. When one or both parents are foreign nationals, matters can involve parallel proceedings in other jurisdictions, the application of Hague Convention principles, and questions about where a child may lawfully reside.
Krathong Law practises exclusively in this area. That focus means we are not distracted by other practice areas, and the patterns and precedents we have accumulated over years of family work are directly relevant to the matters clients bring to us.
Our office is located in Chonburi — a province with a substantial international population, including long-term residents, retirees, and families who have built lives across two or more countries. We are well placed to assist families whose situations do not fit neatly within a single legal framework.
We work in English throughout, and can arrange certified Thai translations of any documents required for court submission or foreign proceedings. Our approach throughout is to keep clients informed, to explain the options available at each stage, and to let families make the decisions that are right for them.
