Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a co-parenting plan and do I need one?
A co-parenting plan sets out how two parents will share responsibility for their child's upbringing — covering schedules, holidays, schooling decisions, and communication. It is not always legally required, but having one in writing reduces future disagreement significantly and can be submitted to the Thai Family Court to formalise parental arrangements.
How long does custody mediation typically take?
Most custody mediation at Krathong Law runs across two or three sessions. The preparatory work — conversations with each parent, identifying the core issues — happens before the first session. If parents reach agreement, we draft the terms shortly after the final session. Complex matters may take longer, and we will tell you honestly when that appears to be the case.
We are from different countries. Can you handle our situation?
Yes. Cross-border family matters are a significant part of our work. We coordinate with family law counsel in other jurisdictions and have experience with Hague Convention questions. If your matter involves a foreign court order or arrangements across two countries, we will explain which legal framework applies and what steps are available in Thailand.
Are the prices listed per session or for the whole matter?
The prices shown cover the complete service as described — not a single session. The co-parenting plan price (฿2,100) covers the full drafting process including initial conversations and the written plan. The mediation price (฿8,000) covers preparation and attendance across the sessions. International proceedings (฿10,500) cover the full representation engagement. We will confirm all fee arrangements before work begins.
Is what I share with you kept confidential?
Absolutely. Legal professional privilege applies to all communications between you and our advocates. Nothing you share is disclosed without your consent. In mediation, we treat information shared by each parent as confidential unless you agree otherwise.
What happens at the first meeting?
An initial consultation is a chance for us to understand your situation and for you to understand what options are available. There is no pressure. We will listen, ask some clarifying questions, and then explain what each pathway looks like in practical terms — timeline, cost, and likely outcome. You can then decide whether to proceed and how.
